How to Understand & Support a Griever
This is the only course at Voyager open to all people—the only specification is, this course is for people who care about, love, and are worrying about a woman in her 20’s, 30’s, 40’s who is grieving. The woman you care about might be grieving a death, a perinatal loss, or she might be caregiving for someone who is approaching end of life. She might be struggling with infertility, she might say “I’m fine” or “I just need to…”, but you get the sense she isn’t who she was before her loss. You miss her, you care about her, and you want to help, but when you offer her perspective-taking it doesn’t work, and you don’t know whether to offer help or what to offer or how to speak with her.
In this course, you will learn
Grief models beyond the 5 stage model, and how to select which model supports your relationship and your support in a way that is actionable and effective
About grieving death-related and non-death related losses such as loss of identity, loss of what could have been, and loss of safety
How to understand & navigate mortality anxiety
The relationship between emotional skills & grieving, and how to be an effective supporter
Courses at Voyager intentionally & compassionately do not include:
