Couples Therapy

Connect with intention,
grieve with love

Cozy living room with a yellow sofa, a blue armchair, and a beige floral armchair. A dark wooden coffee table holds three small potted plants. A tall floor lamp with a white shade is between the yellow sofa and the blue armchair. The wall has four framed paintings: one with flowers in a vase, a monochrome floral, and a landscape. The room has a bookshelf behind the blue armchair and a carpeted floor.

Couples grief therapy provides direct, intentional time for you and your partner to reorient and reconnect after a life-altering loss. At Voyager Counseling, Olga Montgomery, LCSW offers evidenced, expert couples therapy which helps couples navigate the acute stressors of loss, identify and reduce the burden and pain of post-traumatic symptoms in each individual, and build the whole-person action and communication skills and inner processes to help your relationship and family to grieve well and make courageous, intentional, love-forward choices each day of this mortal, imperfect, human life, together.

When grief breaks us open, sometimes we hurt and react from the worst of ourselves.

Couples therapy can support you as a union to find what’s unbreakable, deepest in your union, and see the light through the cracks together, then build something with purpose and love from the pieces.

A group of four people sitting indoors on different chairs and couches, engaged in conversation. A woman on the left is sitting on a pink armchair with her hands clasped and wearing black boots, a colorful top, and heart-shaped earrings. Two women and a man are sitting on a red patterned couch on the right side, talking to each other. There is a side table with a vase of flowers, a small statue, a clock, and books next to the woman near the window, which has blinds. An abstract painting hangs on the white wall above the couch.

Couples therapy with Olga Montgomery, LCSW, CAGCS, is often intentionally more topic-specific and shorter in duration than individual therapy. You and your partner will explore how your personal histories and experiences are shaping your current struggles while grieving, identify your shared values and cultivate appreciation for your unique love and grief, and intentionally grow your the capacity and skill in your relationship to mutually connect and support in and through grief pain.

Relationship is a crucible of our personal life’s voyage, in vulnerable and authentic connection with another.

When we choose a life with deep love, we open ourselves to deep loss.

Build the skills to navigate deep love, deep loss, and mortal life together.
