At Voyager Counseling, our fees are clear, purposeful, and intentional. Voyager Counseling is a direct pay practice with low-cost client-only process groups available weekly as well as free peer support groups available weekly. Fees are always available to be discussed without avoidance, pressure, or coercion—sliding scale is available and so is referral to grief professionals who take insurance.

Individual sessions are 75 minutes, $200, in-person or online. Couples and family sessions are 90 minutes, $240, in-person only. The weekly clients-only process group is $40 per 90 minute session.

Direct pay therapy means:

• Truly whole-person grief care based in building resilient mental and behavioral health

• No psychiatric illness named or diagnostic code assigned

• Enhanced confidentiality

• No possibility of billing errors or time spent navigating insurance

I do not offer insurance coverage or out of network “Superbills”. This is because provisioning a Superbill requires identifying and assigning a diagnostic code of a psychiatric illness, identifying functional impairment specifically to validate “medical necessity” (or no coverage if audited), and (in the case of a family or couple) identifying then diagnosing an “identified patient”. All of these demands (and others) run counter to providing expert, radically compassionate grief therapy.
